Sights of Serpukhov
Serpukhov is a very small, but very picturesque city with a long history.
It was here that Ivan the Terrible once conducted an inspection of his army. This city was one of the largest centers of preparation for the Kulikovo battle with Mamai. Believe me, he has something to show and tell his visitors. Not only for adults, but also for children.
Centuries-old shrines with an interesting history
In Serpukhov there is the Monastery for Men, founded in 1374 by Vladimir the Brave. Then it was just one small cathedral, but over time, the territory replenished with an entire ensemble of temples, a bell tower and additional buildings.
A little earlier, in 1360, a convent was founded - Vvedensky Vladychny. The snow-white walls, complimented by dark restrained domes, a huge number of holy relics inside ... The decoration of the temples fascinates and draws admiration for the skill of medieval craftsmen.
It is also worth noting that the Temple of Old Believers of the XIX century is located in Serpukhov. Now it is practically invalid and given to the museum, however, 2 times a year you can still get into the service.
Museums and natural landscapes
For true connoisseurs of history, we strongly recommend visiting one of the largest museums in the Moscow Region - the Serpukhov Museum of History and Art. In some of its halls one can see real theatrical performances, enjoy the grace of old products made of natural stone, feel the spirit of past centuries.
For nature lovers, Serpukhov will also become a real storehouse. Not far from the city is the Prioksko-Terrasny Biosphere Reserve, as well as the real world of fairy tales - the Berendeevo Kingdom.
You can have a good rest near Serpukhov as a whole family at the Novinki Park recreation center. Call to book a room in advance or find out more interesting information.
